Its a review about this product
At the heart of this book is a story about the author, Marsha, and her friend Phoebe--two women who are both divorced, childless, and mourning dead parents. The two friends make a pact: "If anything bad happens, we'll be there for each other." Something bad happens. Phoebe is diagnosed with lymphoma. Meanwhile, Marsha has been seeking her own emotional healing from a Native American shaman, Beautiful Painted Arrow, to whom she turns for help in helping Phoebe. As Phoebe experiences the lows of cancer therapy, the highs of remission, and then tumbles towards death--as she welcomes Marsha's help and then rejects Marsha's seeming control--Marsha learns what she needs to learn in order to heal herself. Along the way, Marsha's experiences in a sweat lodge and with two dance rituals punctuate her journey, offering her needed perspectives and insights on her own fears, hopes, and purpose. While readers should not expect more than a brief introduction to Native American healing practices, they will be rewarded with a brisk, honest story of friendship and love.
