Photography: The Whole Story (Paperback)

Its a review about this product

The book's editor Juliet Hacking has done a wonderful job in collating a very lively and accessible history of photography. Similar books that cover the broad sweep of the subject have been written by individuals who frequently show the author's bias but here thirty-one contributors write about their knowledge and enthusiasm for photography.

Though there are five basic chapters within each of these there are explored themes. For example, Chapter three covers twenty-two subjects with text and photos over two or four pages. Each of these is followed by a relevant photo, large on the page with an interesting visual feature called Focal Points where three or more thumbnails of part of the image are repeated, each with a detailed caption. I thought this visual idea was one of the strengths of the book and really pulls the reader into a photo to reveal something that isn't always apparent. I'm guessing but I think several hundred pictures have this intriguing treatment.

Another strength of the book is the comprehensive coverage. Every historically important photographer and genre is here (Avant-garde photography in Mexico gets a spread for example) but also the non-art but still creative output of fashion, advertising, conflict, press and paparazzi, globalisation. The twelve page index is also a good indicator of the depth of coverage.

This is really a dip-into reference book about photographic art from 1826 to the present. The theme essays and individual photographer's work are presented as spreads in a simple elegant layout with a 175 screen on a matt art paper. My only quibble would be the use of a flexibound cover rather than traditional hard covers.

'Photography: the whole story' could well become a standard reference title that is updated every few years to cover new developments and for the price I think its remarkable value for money.

Underwear for Women Hot Chillys Women's MTF 4000 Jewel Neck Top (Apparel)

The review about this product

This Hot Chillys Women's MTF 4000 Jewel Neck Top (black) is one I reach for again and again when it's cold outside. Normally I wear a size small in most tops (5'5" & low 120's) but I selected the medium and like the fact it's still form fitting but not too tight. The fabric is soft, stretchy and warm as a base layer and the arm length is just right for me. Just don't wash it with any towels or it will attract lint ;). BTW, the Hot Chilly's size chart states: women's small = size 6-8, chest 32" - 34" and the medium is size 8-10 and chest 35" - 37".

A Masterpiece!

The review about this product

Caesar's Hours: My Life in Comedy, With Love and Laughter (Hardcover) I wholeheartedly recommend Caesar's Hours. Not only is this book an autobiography, but also an encyclopedia of sorts. Sid eloquently writes of his early years growing up in New York, his numerous tries at breaking into show business, his service to the country during WWII, and finally, his years on 'Your Show of Shows' and 'Caesar's Hour'. Along the way, Sid shares some of his favorite jokes and sketches that he has used during his reign as TV legend.
What makes Sid even more commendable and the book even more facinating, is how Sid gives credit to all those who helped him along the way. While most entertainers take all the credit, Sid carefully notes his comedy writers and fellow actors who, together, are the reason for his and the shows' great success.
I recommend this book to anyone wishing to read about Sid's life, and all those who want to know just how difficult it was to produce a show a week, in an entertainment medium that was in its infancy.
A magnificant work from the last of the Televion Legends!

Reviews About Ibex Outdoor Clothing Women's Balance Bralette (Apparel) Underwear for Women

Its a review about this product

This is probably my FAVorite cool/cold weather shirt ~ I also have the 150 zip T. I think I lost my 220 when I stayed at a hotel recently, i can't find it so I'm looking to replace it. I wear it as a base for outdoor exercise but also day to day wear underneath a t-shirt or whatever because it's just so comfortable. Keeps me plenty warm but not hot as it breathes so well, one of the main things I love about this shirt. I can wear this under a t-shirt with a light jacket (with a hat and balaclava) and be very comfortable walking in mid to low 30's temperatures. I originally bought it for cold weather cycling and it's fantastic for that. I'm 5'3" and bought and XL. I've worn this shirt from 170 lbs to 149 lbs (I lost some weight) and it fits great. It's form fitting but not in the least restrictive. Generally I don't like a lot of layers, that bulked up feeling, but this doesn't do that, it's very light, moves with me such that I don't even feel that I'm wearing an extra layer.
Also doesn't smell. I can get several wears out of it between washings. Cold wash, air dry and it seems to dry really fast.

Underwear for Women Uncle John's 24-Karat Gold Bathroom Reader (Uncle John's Bathroom Reader) (Paperback)

The review about this product

I've read every single Uncle John's readers multiple times and after getting the feeling either they ran out of material or got lazy, the last two have been good, with this one being back to former quality of some of the earlier readers. I can wait to go to the library...er...bathroom to dive into more goofy and interesting tidbits of this that and the other thing that are both interesting and simultaneously useless...but still fun to read. I may have to get a good bout of the runs to finish this one fast so I can go on to the next one.

*NOTE* Per Uncle Johns BRI Facebook page, there is a production issue with the cover stock and paper on this issue that allows it to bend and curl more than usual. My cover curls as do the pages. BRI said they're working on a fix.

First Class: Women Join the Ranks at the Naval Academy (Hardcover)

Its a review about this product

Having served with a 2ndLt from the Class of 1980 and had some exposure to the trials and tribulations the female midshipmen were subjected to, I was immediately drawn to read "First Class". The stories of each character pull you into the lives of the women who are followed through their four years at the academy. It's written without "sides" being taken and yet gives the reader the full impact of how brave, strong willed and determined these women were to survive. It also shows just how human and frail each were and how those opposing traits had to be delicately balanced. A great read from start to finish.

Icebreaker Women's Everyday Cami Tank Top (Apparel)

The review about this product

This is the third cami I've purchased from Icebreaker, and the first time through Amazon. I love this cami because it's so soft and works well both as a warm weather layer and a cold weather layer (obviously with different numbers of layers). It's difficult to find anything not to like about this piece. It's long enough to not ride up, but not so long that I wish it was shorter (hitting about low-hip on my almost 5'4" frame). It runs true to size, and even though it's really basic, I think it's worth the money as they seem to last for many years. If you're looking for a basic layer piece that will last for a long time, this is the garment to try.

Great color and fit

The review about this product

I first got the ivory, and hated the color - it was too close to my skin color, so I exchanged it for cranberry and love the color - it has more of pink and purple undertones than red, like the picture from my iPad.

I'm a 32-c, and the s/p fits great - maybe a little snug across the chest, but once you start moving, you don't notice it, and the seaming is flattering w/out being too tight (24" waist), so it hangs off the body nicely. I bought it for golf and going to the gym, so there's plenty of room for a thin layer underneath, and a jacket on top if I need another layer.

Love the soft feel of the "doeskin", esp when you have dry winter skin, and the tiny black zipper pull is a nice detail. Oh, and it's not made in China!

Reviews About 100 Years of Fashion (Paperback) Underwear for Women

Its a review about this product

The Review:

Lexi has worked long and hard to get to where she is. She's a former model with no college education. She used her earnings from modeling to fund her ultimate dream of owning a dress shop and making original wedding gowns for the rich and famous. She's done that and more all on her own. She's had bad luck with men and her last ex douchebag tried to destroy her hopes and dreams. Since then, Lexi made a vow to herself, she'd never give anyone, especially a man, the chance to destroy all she's worked for. Now she is going to New York to discuss a potential partnership with one of the most famous designers in the world for a new line and she can't let anything or anyone get in her way. Not even the hot "Biker Boy" she sees in front of the airport terminal, that makes her whole body heat up just from his dark stare.

Jax is a retired actor turned stuntman. He's had his own share of heartache from the opposite sex. His last ex girlfriend not only cheated on him with the competitor, but also gave away some secrets that cost him and his stunt team, the "Renegades" a huge contract that would've put some serious money into all their pockets. He's decided to take a break from the Hollywood hotties he keeps falling into bed with, who use him for his connections. This trip to New York is his chance to get his head clear and not even the gorgeous blonde with her beautiful blue eyes will tempt him into falling into old patterns.

When a little kid bumps into Jax and causes him to spill his coffee all over himself, he knows his day is doomed to be hell. Then he gets a text message from a mysterious stranger and everything changes.

[book quote]UNKNOWN: You're in luck. I just read a survey that women in New York are most turned on by the scent of coffee. No joke.[book quote]

Lexi had watched "Biker Boy" get soaked with coffee and her heart melted when he pulled out a toy car for the kid instead of yelling. Using a phone app that Rubi has prototyped, Lexi is able to point her phone at strangers and their numbers will appear next to them. She uses it on "Biker Boy" and when his number comes up, she takes a chance. What harm could some anonymous flirting do?

[book quote]UNKNOWN: And while I do love coffee-- both the scent... and the taste-- I have no doubt I'd prefer the scent... and the taste... of something...more personal.

Jax stared down at the message . Heat gathered low in his gut. "Whoa."[book quote]

I seriously loved the text exchanges between Jax and Lexi. Something about flirting via text/message/emails, makes it so much sexier. Maybe it's the reading, the anticipation and the images written words can conjure up. That's what makes Skye Jordan the Queen of Erotica! She gives us just enough to create an erotic image in our minds, but she leaves just enough out to let our imagination take us to where we want to go. We can either get hard core or soft core, it's how far we want to push our own naughtiness.

When I was reading I unfortunately had to stop when my husband took my kindle so I would come to bed. Yes...I know right!? How dare he!!?

[book quote]"You like it?" he asked, voice rough. "Or you want me to stop?"

"Love it." Lexi's eyes closed. Head fell forward. She swallowed. The only thing keeping her from pushing his hand between her legs and using it to cut this wild need was her own mortification of doing so. "More. Please."

Instead of giving her more, Jax turned his hand over, took hers, and guided it back to the door handle. "Hold on, baby. You're gonna need it."

One of his feet pushed between her high heels and eased one of her feet to the side. His hand slid into the heat between her legs, and Lexi's whole body exploded with the electric excitement of his touch. Her hips pushed forward. A moan rolled out of her throat.

"Easy, baby," Jax whispered, his touch too light for Lexi's needs. She pushed harder against his hand, and he pulled back. "You'll get what you need. I promise."[book quote]

Fortunately for him he took my kindle away right after I read this part and I was so hot he was inadvertently rewarded for his violation.

I really loved the story...not just the sex, but the honest and true, love story. So many erotica books focus on the sex only and a person can only handle so much before you start skipping past the sex scenes. "RECKLESS" was a hot and steamy LOVE story. Whether you love romances or erotica, you'll love "RECKLESS" Unless you are the type who doesn't like a book that has ANY indication of intercourse, this is the book for you.

"RECKLESS" is Erotica at it's best. Whether you like to read about hard and fast screwing or slow and sweet lovemaking...it's got it. Whether you prefer dirty talk and heart pounding sex or sweet promises and soul searching sex...it's got it. Whether you are whips and chains or feathers and whip cream, this book will keep you entranced, enthralled, in love and in heat the whole way through.

Skye Jordan(Aka Joan Swan) is truly the Michelangelo of Erotica and I CAN NOT WAIT to see what she's got for us next!

Reviews About The Atheist's Prayer (Paperback) Underwear for Women

The review about this product

Amy Biddle's debut novel, The Athiest's Prayer, is a gritty comedic story with many characters each of whom brings a unique background and personality to a shared life experience. Using a rich and lively dialog, Biddle weaves three separate story lines into one very complex and thought provoking plot. The characters are portrayed as dynamic, complex, and evolving each with their own set of strengths, weaknesses, and believable contradictions. These troubled but entirely human people face challenges that provide a stage for Amy to raise more questions than she answers. Bravo!

Reviews About Uncle John's Monumental Bathroom Reader (Uncle John's Bathroom Readers) (Hardcover) Underwear for Women

Cheaper by the Dozen (Hardcover) CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN
Format: Paperback,1st ed., 180 pages ISBN: 0553272500 Publisher: Bantam Doubleday Dell Books for Younger Readers Pub. Date: February 1981 Other Formats: Hardback Recommended Age:Third grade and up
Wonderful...Once you start to read the first page you wont be able to put the book down. This perfect way to spend a rainy day. You will be very amused when you read about the hilarious events of the Gilbreth family. The family of twelve children have many adventures you will enjoy reading. The father is almost crazy and a very successful business man. He is very strict and overprotective. He won't let his daughters wear make up or dress the way they like to. They slowly change his mind and begin to dress their way. He thinks his children can do anything and is also believed he could do anything. He loved jokes and laughing and you will love the practical jokes they play on each other. The rich family loves to go to movies then out for ice cream. They also spend their summers at the beach, where their Dad forces them to learn to swim. He wants them to learn as much as possible about everything so he always finds a way to teach them new things. As an efficiency expert he made sure that everything was done in a time efficient way. It was a sin to waste time in the Gilbreth house and he was constantly coming up with new ways to save time. The Dad in the story liked to parade around and show off his kids. Although this was embarassing to some of the kids as they got older Dad found it hilarious. The mother also was sometimes embarrassed or insulted by the attention they got or the comments other people made. This book will keep you laughing right up to the last chapter when Dad dies. The book is a mixture of humor and then sadness at the ending. This is an excellent book that everybody should read. I recommend this book for anyone that knows how to read no matter how old or young!

Underwear for Women Helly Hansen K HH Warm Top (Set of 2) (Apparel)

The review about this product

I have 3 pair of base layer pants of a cheaper brand and a lower percentage of merino wool that are warmer, softer and look nicer than these. These wrinkle badly which does not matter if worn under other clothes but I like to use mine under skirts on chilly mornings and around the house with a t-shirt or sweatshirt. One of the seams started unravelling after one wash. The fit is nice but I think they are a little scratchy.

Underwear for Women Rain of Gold (Paperback)

The review about this product

Enchanting as any epic novel, this true history of two families who fought their way north from different towns during the Mexican revolution and then had to keep fighting to make a living in a society prejudiced against them held me spellbound the whole time I was reading it.
Victor Villasenor presents this amazing history in simple language laced with gorgeous superlatives that carries the reader along in breathless anticipation. I now understand my Mexican heritage better. I now know:
-Why my maternal grandmother said, "Pancho Villa was not a hero; he was a thief!"
-Why her parents hid their daughters when the Villistas rode into their ranch in Sonora
-Why my mother has memories from Calexico and Mexicali of schoolmates' parents not letting them play with Mexican kids
-Why my grandfather was demoted from his good job at an aircraft factory in San Diego in the 1950's when a prejudiced new supervisor took over his department
- Why, after hours spent with my grandmother in my childhood, I feel so affectionate toward Our Lady of Guadalupe and so much in awe of my grandmother's seemingly mystical knowledge about life.
The other side of my family came from Ireland and Germany. Much attention is being focused on documenting the "Ellis Island" experience. "Rain of Gold" is the story of immigrants who didn't cross an ocean to get here, but whose journey was just as arduous. Bravo, Mr. Villasenor!

Underwear for Women Minus33 Merino Wool Women's Liberty Lightweight 1/4 Zip (Apparel)

Its a review about this product

I really like this top. The first time I open the package, I was a little disappointed because it is thin and not as fitted as I expected it to be, but when I started using it I realized that it doesn't matter how thin it is because it is really warm. The fitting is also perfect because I can use it as a base layer or on top of another clothing. The zipper front is perfect on my V neck tops. In total I am very happy with this thermal.

Reviews About It's So You: 35 Women Write About Personal Expression Through Fashion and Style (Paperback) Underwear for Women

The review about this product

I am always excited to see another installment of the B R I "ROLL" off the presses and thought the 25th anniversary volume would be a "high water mark". Alas, somehow this one just didn't have the "flow" of exciting subjects as those before it. Even Spielburg has highs and lows. I shall remain a fan of the B R I and look forward to the next tome of topics filled to the rim with unstoppable material.

Reviews About Icebreaker Women's Vertex Legless Bottom (Apparel) Underwear for Women

The review about this product

The "Perfect" addition for your Ski wardrobe. I for one can't see the point in having long baselayer leggings when you only have to pull them up to your knees anyway. I do however have the long ones of which I will continue to wear at night around the town and these babies will be my go to for the skiing. I love the fit and the feel of Icebreaker. A great way to keep the baggage limits down also. Hats off to Amazon and its sellers as it is an awesome place to shop with confidence and ease.
